If you are signed up to receive them, on the 1st and 15th of every month, you get an email from Mass Golf providing you with your 'Handicap Index'. This is an 18 hole index and is not golf course specific.
The Pro Shop at Captains compiles these indexes into a league specific file that the Pairings group uses. A professional (normally Pat Fannon) then converts these indexes into 9-hole handicaps for back nine play for both Starboard and Port for both the red tees and the 'family' tees. For some golfers, your handicap for both the Starboard and Port courses will be the same but for others, there there will be a one-shot difference between them. Again, it depends on your Mass Golf Index for the week.
Due to limitations in the pairings program we use, for any particular week, only one set of handicaps is used; either the Port course handicaps or the Starboard one. And we try to alternate which course we use.
The file containing all the handicap information is available on our website; www.cgc9holers,com under the Weekly Play tab.
